Fraternal Order of Police

Minutes January 8th, 2013

 

The regular monthly meeting was held January 08th 2013 at the Bedford American Legion.

All lodge officers were present except Vice President Cornelius, and Chaplain Flanagan.

President Kovel led the members in attendance with the Pledge of Allegiance and opening prayer.

MOTION made by Brother Ritter and second by brother Ianuzzi to deviate from normal business so a guest speakers could address those in attendance. Motion passed.

Guest speakers Fred Miller, Blair County District Court Judge, and Wade Kagerise, Blair County Assistant District Attorney, addressed the group. Both are running for Blair County Judge and requesting support from our lodge.

MOTION made by Brother Neil and second by brother Stanek to waive the reading of the previous minutes. Motion passed.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS – Brothers Campbell, Strohmyer, and Nazareth are recovering well and back to limited duty work after the shooting incident in Blair County. Brother Friedenberger was present and informed the members of his ongoing battle with and treatments for his cancer. Brother/Vice President Cornelius is recovering from knee surgery due to a torn/damaged ACL and meniscus.

REPORTS OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY/TREASURER – Treasurers report provided by Brother Cunningham.

MOTION made by brother Sechoka and second by brother Mowery to accept the reports. Motion passed.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES – Brother Hetzel took over PSP clothing sales for the lodge.

BALLOTING OF CANIDIDATES – None

READING OF COMMUNICATIONS –None

UNFINISHED BUSINESS – Nominations

MOTION made by brother Friedenberger and second by brother Sechoka for the Secretary to cast one vote for all the Lodge officers due to their positions not being contested. Motion passed.  Delegates were voted on.

NEW BUSINESS – None

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER – President Kovel informed the members about ongoing contract negotiations. Kovel related the Departments Nepotism policy is still being discussed, and informed members of construction and upgrades that will be completed to the PSTA building to make it more easily useable for Round Robins of which overall will save the PSTA money as well.

·         If members received an e-mail from the Departments Human Resources H/R requesting their dependent’s Social Security information they need to contact the same.

MOTION made by brother Stanek and second by brother Bill Wagner NOT to endorse either candidate in the Primary for Blair County Judge. Motion passed.

MOTION made by brother Ritter and second by brother Bill Wagner that only the political candidate speak reference their candidacy and not additional guests they bring. Motion failed.

MOTION made by brother Stanek and second by brother Patrick to destroy the Ballots. Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Stanek and second by Brother Ritter to pay the bills against the Lodge, Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Sechoka to Adjourn, second by Brother Shaffer, motion passed.
