Fraternal Order of Police

Minutes March 5th, 2013

 

 

 

The regular monthly meeting was held March 5th 2013, at the Knights of Columbus in Hollidaysburg PA.

All lodge officers were present except Vice President Kovel, Trustee Bob Kovel, Conductor Mowery, and Chaplain Nancy Kovel.

President Cornelius led the members in attendance with the Pledge of Allegiance and gave the opening prayer.

MOTION made by Brother Sechoka and second by brother Hawk to deviate from normal business to let guests speak to the members. Motion passed.

The following guests spoke to the members requesting the lodges endorsement for them in the primary election.

1.      Stacey Parks MILLER, running unopposed for Re-Election of Centre County DA

2.      Kelly GILLETTE, running for District Judge in Bellefonte, Court 49-3-02.

3.      Leslie DUTCHCOT, running unopposed for Re-Election of District Judge 49-2-01

MOTION made by Brother Neil and second by Brother Johns to waive the reading of the previous minutes. Motion passed.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS

* Brother Friedenberger recovering well after having his kidney with cancerous tumor removed. He is still waiting to hear about having the cancerous tumor in his lung taken care of.

* Brother Cummins will be having back surgery after injuring the same while taking a 302 individual into custody.

* Brother Mike Pencils father passed away.

* Brother Jeff Wharren lost all his hearing for no apparent reason. He recently got back 60% of his hearing in one ear. On going testing to find out what why.

 

REPORTS OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY/TREASURER – Treasurers report provided by Brother Hetzel.

MOTION made by brother Sechoka and second by Brother Patrick to accept the report. Motion passed.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES

·       FOP Family Picnic Tuesday July 9th at Blands Park.

·         Brother Jeff Hetzel has PSP clothing for sale.

BALLOTING OF CANIDIDATES –

For ACTIVE Member, Robert Harvey of PSP Huntingdon.

For Associate Member, V. Jenny Pittman of Clearville PA.

MOTION to accept both for membership by Brother Ianuzzi and second by brother Cunningham. Motion passed.

READING OF COMMUNICATIONS – The Lodge received request from Bedford, Fulton and Centre County Camp Cadets requesting a donation.

UNFINSIHED BUSINESS – Brother Kovel still looking into  possibly having a golf tournament/fund raiser for the lodge.

NEW BUSINESS – None

GOOD OF THE ORDER – President Cornelius spoke about ongoing contract negotiation issues as well as man power issues. Next contract meeting is tentatively expected to be in April.

·         NTC to be held at Mechanicsburg PA September 19th. The PSTA will need members again to volunteer to help with various tasks at the event. Please contact President Cornelius if you can help.

·        DO NOT USE STATE E-MAIL FOR GREVIANCE ISSUES.

·         President Cornelius reminds member if they are involved in a serious incident such as a shooting to contact him, PSTA President Kovel, Brother Bova or another Representative to speak with an Attorney before being interviewed.

·         Brother Patrick spoke about the meeting with the Captain.

MOTION made by Brother Ianuzzi and seconded by Brother Sechoka to send $250 donation to Bedford, Fulton, and Centre County Camp Cadets as in past years. Motion passed.

MOTION made by brother Sechoka and second by brother Mcgarvey to send the maximum number of delegates to the May round robin. Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Sechoka and second by Brother Campbell to pay the bills against the Lodge, Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Stanek and seconded by brother Williams to Adjourn. Motion passed

Sept. 19, N.T.C. Picnic tentatively scheduled in Mechanicsburg PA.
